Vi må tørre å snakke om døden med pasientene våre.
Det er lite å lære i tause kulturer og umoralske handlinger får lettere plass.
Spørsmålet dukker opp på alle slags seminarer om praktisk etikk. På ulike vis styrkes refleksjonsarbeidet i sykehjem og i hjemmetjenester. Men så dukker altså spørsmålet opp, skal det være frivillig eller obligatorisk å delta?
FERIEAVVIKLING: Når 200 000 ansatte i helsesektoren skal ut i velfortjent sommerferie, forblir antall pasienter og brukere uendret. Det skaper store utfordringer også denne sommeren.
Regjeringen påstår at pleie- og omsorgssektoren er styrket med 10 000 nye årsverk. Men styrkingen kan vise seg å være ren bløff.
Vi må kunne snakke om døden. Enten de er fast ansatte eller vikarer i fellesferien, må de ikke løpe fra samtalen om livets slutt.
Plikten til å redde liv versus pasientens rett til å være medbestemmende kan bringe oss opp i vanskelige etiske dilemmaer.
Min selvstendig næringsdrivende far sa en gang: For guds skyld Gro, få deg jobb i det offentlige. Med det mente han ordnede forhold, sikker jobb, trygg framtid. Men er det å jobbe i offentlig sektor ensbetydende med det lenger? For å sitere en tillitsvalgt jeg kjenner; det hardner til. En kollega med mann i privat sektor fortalte at på hans arbeidsplass hadde de minst tre ansatte som antakelig ikke ville vært i jobb dersom de var ansatt i offentlig sektor. Jeg ble ikke overrasket, for vi hører mange historier.
De fleste eldre med demens bor i dag hjemme, og mange får betydelig hjelp fra pårørende.
Å be hyttefolket om hjelp er kreativt, men så langt har det ikke lykkes. Aure må bruke vikarbyrå for første gang.
